What to consider before choosing location
Quiet vs lively
- Quiet vs lively: Do you prefer a calm, quiet place where you can have a private moment, or are you okay with a location that’s a bit more lively?
- Nature vs city: Do you and your partner feel more relaxed in nature, parks, gardens, and quiet green spaces or do you love the energy of the city with its monuments, viewpoints, and historic streets?
- Would you enjoy people cheering during your proposal, or would you prefer a quiet, more private moment? Think about what feels most natural to you as a couple.
Prague Castle
Prague Castle stands as one of the Czech Republic’s most important monuments. Within the complex lie numerous monuments, with the Cathedral of St. Vitus being the most popular. Prague Castle also offers beautiful views of the whole of Prague and several beautiful gardens.
The best time to propose:
Preferably sunrise before the tour groups arrive. It can also work during the day, although it’s not ideal, or during blue hour, when there are still a few spots where we can avoid people in the background. If you’re planning to propose on the stairs with the city view, we definitely recommend sunrise if you’d like to avoid crowds in the background of your photos.
Charles Bridge
Charles Bridge is one of the most iconic and photographed monuments in the city. Renowned for its breathtaking views of the cityscape and the Vltava River, it’s a favorite among photographers and travelers. Lined with statues of saints and historical towers, the bridge offers numerous picturesque spots and backdrops.
The best time to propose:
This is probably the busiest place in Prague to photograph a proposal but it is great for sunrise option when only few travelers and photographers wander around with cameras. 🙂 We definitely recommend sunrise here, the rest of the day the bridge is pretty busy and full of tourist. In the summer time you can find it hard to even walk through.
Tip: If you really love this location but can’t make it for sunrise, there are two or three nearby spots with the bridge in the background that tend to be a little less busy. Just keep in mind that during the busy months, you should still expect some people around.
Kampa
Kampa is a romantic place along the Vltava River in Prague overlooking the Charles Bridge. Nearby locations include the so-called Prague Venice, Vojanovy sady(a serene park), and many charming streets lined with picturesque houses.
The best time to propose:
Kampa is located in the historic center, so it can get busy, but it’s usually much quieter than Charles Bridge. It’s a perfect spot for a sunrise proposal, when the area is often almost empty. We’ve also photographed proposals and engagement sessions here in the afternoon and at sunset. It works well, just expect to see some people around.
Old Town Square
The most important square in historic Prague, dating back to the 12th century, is another highly popular location. It serves as a great starting point for a engagement photoshoot.
The best time to propose:
This location is great particularly in the early morning hours to avoid the bustle and hustle. As Charles bridge it gets quickly crowded with tourist till late evening.
National Theatre
The National Theater in Prague is a important monument, comprising both a new and an old stage, showcasing a variety of architectural styles. Surrounding the theater are numerous picturesque streets. By following the riverbank, you’ll arrive at the Charles Bridge. Nearby, Střelecký Ostrov(Island) provides an excellent point for capturing photos of the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle.
The best time to propose:
National Theatre is best suited for a sunrise surprise proposal. Blue hour after sunset is another beautiful option. While an afternoon proposal is still possible, we recommend choosing one of these time slots for the best experience and the nicest photos.
Vrtba garden
Vrtba Garden is one of Prague’s most beautiful gardens. This elegant Baroque garden sits below Prague Castle and offers stunning terraces, greenery, beautiful staircases, and panoramic views over the city’s rooftops. It’s a perfect choice if you’re looking for a romantic and timeless setting with a more intimate feel than Prague’s busy streets. Ticket price: 150,- Kč.
The best time to propose:
Vrtba Garden is a little less flexible with timing because it has its own opening hours. During the summer season, the garden is usually open from 10 AM to 7 PM, which means sunrise and late sunset photos are not possible here. The garden is beautiful at any time during opening hours, but we recommend choosing a time when the light is softer and the garden is less busy. Please keep in mind that it may be closed outside of the main season.
Petřín
Petřin Park is one of Prague’s most beloved parks. This oasis, situated not far from the historic center, features beautiful gardens and picturesque views of the town and Prague Castle. The area is particularly popular for couple and engagement photoshoots, especially in spring, when cherry blossoms adorn one side of the hill. It offers the perfect blend of nature and stunning backdrops, showcasing Prague’s beautiful architecture.
The best time to propose:
Golden hour after sunrise or before sunset are both great options. The park gets quite busy during the blooming season, so in spring we recommend the early morning hours. We don’t recommend shooting here in the middle of the day, especially in bright sunlight.
Vyšehrad
Vyšehrad is a historic hillfort, castle, and fortress in Prague. The location offers beautiful views of the city and the Vltava River and is surrounded by a park. Vyšehrad is less touristy and an original location for a proposal photoshoot.
The best time to propose:
Golden hour after sunrise or before sunset are both great options. We don’t recommend shooting here in bright sunlight.
Šárka nature reserve
Divoká Šárka is a nature reserve in Prague. It’s not too far from the city center, approximetaly 20 minutes from center. It has many breathtaking views and offers various hiking opportunities and is one of the best quiet photoshoot locations. If you like your photo shoots to be a bit more adventurous, this is the perfect place for you.

This area is especially lovely at sunset. We don’t recommend shooting here in bright sunlight.
